WELCOME TO PEWSEY METHODIST CHURCH

Our Sunday Worship services start at 10:30am

Pewsey Methodist Church lies in the centre of the village of Pewsey. Our church celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024. Inclusivity is a vital part of the church, which is known for its warm welcome to all. Faith is at the heart of our worship and everything we do encourages people to grow in faith and to share it with others.

The premises have been extensively refurbished and are well used by the local community, who also feel very welcome here. We have good ecumenical links within the village through Pewsey Churches Working Together (Methodist, Anglican and Catholic) with shared activities (particularly around Easter and the Pewsey Carnival).

We use projection during our services and the sound system includes a hearing loop. Our notices are on a printed sheet which includes the order of service and pastoral notes. There is an Offertory plate on entry to the chapel as we no longer take up a collection during the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served in the chapel after the service when there is plenty of time to socialise with our friendly congregation.

Our Communion services are open to all who attend and is served to the congregation in their seats. The communion wine is alcohol free and we can provide gluten free wafers if required.

Please feel free to join us as you will be guaranteed a warm welcome.

"We seek to be a caring community of Christians reaching out to all with the love of Christ."

I am the Revd David Gray Superintendent minister of the North Wiltshire Methodist Circuit. And for the next year I have the great pleasure of looking after the congregation at Pewsey Methodist Church.

I live in Chippenham with my wife Anne. We’ve been married for 40 years. We have an adult son Tom. Anne is a senior nurse working in child protection.

I entered ordained ministry in 2007 having previously worked in finance and banking for 20 years following on from studying for a law degree in London in the 1980s. My first appointment was to the Swindon & Marlborough Circuit where I served for 7 years before moving to the Chippenham Circuit in 2014. The Swindon & Marlborough and Chippenham Circuits merged shortly after to form the North Wiltshire Circuit and I’ve lived in Chippenham ever since.

I’m a cradle Methodist having grown up in a Methodist home in South Wales.
I’m now entering my last year of active ministry before I retire in the summer of 2027. It has been a privilege to serve in this lovely part of the world.

Rev David Gray
